She starts liking Loretta. This is a really interesting story. It let us sees what thoughts our pets have, when they are not taken care of or when they are ignored. The whole book uses the comic style to draw and write about the story. It is very interesting and vivid. I think the book is definitely suitable for kids, but not under four, because the book is a little bit tricky and needs a little bit thoughts. As for too young kids, they might not understand those tricky things very well and definitely need help for a better understanding. So, I highly recommend that kids and parents read together and share their opinions.
Feb 15, Christy Love rated it liked it Shelves: el This book shows that personal problem-solving skills are important. Along with that having good people skills helps with the process. This is a good lesson for kids to learn.

Emma, and her human, George have more or less worked out the strife they went through in the previous book, but peace doesn't last long when George starts dating a woman that Emma suspects is up to no good. Author-illustrator Eileen Christielow pulls out all the stops with this follow-up story.
The use of comic panels shows a greater confidence in the overall presentation from both a artistic and functional standpoint. Mar 31, Paige Joerger rated it really liked it Shelves: children-s-literature This is the first graphic novel I chose. Text-to-self connection: When the dog of this story was narrating, it made of think of when I used to say things out loud of what I thought my dog Lucky was saying. This is a super cute story that made me laugh and think about what my mom would do to give animism to our dogs too.
She actually "married them" on a piece of paper, writing out the vows they made to each other and where their honey moon was going to be.. T This is the first graphic novel I chose. Text- to-text connection: This story can be associated with Garfield.
Both Garfield and Emma are pets whose owners bring another dog into the house Odie in Garfield's house and Hankie in Emma's house. Both sets of animals don't like each other at first, but end up being good pals after different adventures together. Text-to-world connection: This type of behavior is commonly found in either pets or humans. When a family gets their first pet or has their first child, he or she is used to getting all of the attention. When another pet or child comes into the picture, they feel unwanted and more protective over their owner.
They may not understand what is going on and act out as well, just as Emma and Hankie did. Apr 17, Dolly rated it really liked it Recommends it for: parents reading with their children. Shelves: art , , pets , childrens , library. It's an entertaining story about the impact of changes to a family dynamic and the impact on pets. The Desperate Dog Writes Again
The illustrations are colorful and cartoonish and the layout of the book seems to be a cross between a regular picture book and a graphic novel. Overall, we found this book to be entertaining and fun to read aloud. Our youngest read this book aloud to us and we really enjoyed reading it together.
